We are thrilled to launch our first ✨Teen Yoga to support the Nervous System✨ programme!
In this 6 week programme we focus on slow and subtle movement to increase resilience for the Nervous System. In times of big changes for the brain during the teenage years, the aim is to find or re-discover tools for self-regulation and re-connect with feelings of safety and balance.
We will spend 1 hour every Tuesday evening to connect through yoga poses (asanas), as well as conversation, arts & crafts and a warm cup of tea to close the sessions.

💁 Programme Overview
Practices will be in service of...
...our vagus nerve and aim to stimulate vagal tone, which is an indicator of a resilient nervous system. The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in our body and facilitates communication between the brain and the parasympathetic nervous system. Moving in specific ways can stimulate the vagus nerve and send messages of safety and well-being to the brain.
...connecting with the midline of our body and movement across the midline. Cross-body movement helps coordinate the brain's hemispheres, keeping our thinking brain engaged in challenging situations.
...grounding techniques to practise moving tension down and out of our body, allowing our nervous system to complete the stress response.
Who is facilitating the programme?
Kathrin is one of WCSS's founders, Social Worker and a Yoga Alliance accredited Children's Yoga teacher, trained at the Elbow Room in Dublin. She has also studied with Kristine Weber, a leading world authority on the neuroscientific benefits of slow, mindful movement and an advocate for the use of these practices as part of the healthcare system. Kathrin also takes inspiration from Jenn Wooten's practises and is hoping to participate in training with Viasomatic in the future. Most recently Kathrin has embarked on studying Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
