About West Cork Sudbury School (WCSS)
WCSS adopts a community approach to education, based on valuing students as inherent learners - students are given the freedom to develop and grow in their own direction and at their own speed as part of a wider community. Being a member of a democratic school comes with freedom to choose and the responsibility that this freedom entails.Â
This balance between freedom and responsibility is at the heart of West Cork Sudbury School.
As an independent school perhaps the biggest challenge we face is funding - as we are curriculum-free, we have no financial support from the state.
About StreamScapes
The multiple award-winning StreamScapes Project pioneered Schools’ & Community Engagement in Aquatic & Biodiversity Education from  1989, and since that time hundreds of schools and community groups in Communities throughout Ireland north and south, east and west have learned about their local Catchments through compelling classroom lessons and Field Trips to their local streams, rivers, lakes and seashores.
